Alto Connector — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
Alto builds interactive timelines exclusively from materials you provide. This
policy describes what the Alto connector and the Alto web app store and how it is
used.
What we collect
- Account: when you sign in with Google we receive your Google
account's basic profile (name, email, photo) and a stable user id. We never see
your Google password.
- Timeline data: the project names, timeline structure, node
text, and connections you author through the connector. Node content is text you
supplied; Alto does not generate or store content beyond it.
- Study data: highlights, notes, and reports you create inside
a timeline, synced to your account so they follow you across devices.
What we do NOT collect
- The source documents you share with Claude during an interview stay in your
Claude conversation. The connector stores only a factual manifest (file names and
kinds) you approve.
- No analytics, advertising identifiers, or tracking cookies. The only cookie
is your signed session.
Storage & sharing
Data is stored in Google Cloud (Firestore and Cloud Storage) under your user
id. Timelines are private by default; a timeline becomes visible
to others only when you publish it with link visibility, and the link exposes the
built timeline page only. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
Retention & deletion
Data persists until you delete it. Deleting a timeline removes its drafts,
builds, and sync data. To delete your account data entirely, contact us.
